Meters are read once a month. When a Meter Reader is unable to access your meter(s) to acquire readings, your monthly bill is usually estimated.
A meter reading is estimated for the following reasons:
- Service was marked as unoccupied by previous tenant.
- The gate to the premises was locked.
- A dog prevented Meter Readers from entering the property.
This will be stated on your monthly bill.
You may also see a decal attached to your gate indicating that the Meter Readers attempted to access your property.
Not having a proper reading can result in over estimation. If you are being estimated please contact the Meter Reading Department (480 7148) to find out why and to arrange a convenient time for a reading.
